Exciting research days ahead

My dearest fellow RCCESI research associates,

I would like to thank everyone who submitted full research proposals recently. This gives me an opportunity to convene a core group among us representing each RIG to study and produce working proposal templates (specific to each discipline), and guidelines (on budget, doing fieldwork, research assistants’ matters, etc.). Outputs of this discussion would be part of the manual of operations our center is preparing as we transition into becoming two centers next year. We started this initiative through human resource workshop with our support staff clarifying their work descriptions and space in the evolving research structure in our university.

If you are not yet visiting our center, you are missing little but meaningful developments such as (a) our main office is now for the Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) while the former extension office is now fully cleaned and operational, not an extension anymore, but allocated for Culture, Arts and the Humanities (RCCAH); and (b) new furnished cabinets in our pantry have been installed for better organization of materials necessary for our nourishment and wellbeing. Also, we are hoping to purchase new refrigerator to house the many food blessings coming from various generous researchers. I observe that most who come to the center arrive hungry but leave nourished by the snack available in our center’s food table. I sensed that thinking really makes one hungry! Hope this culture of sharing be a staple characteristic of RCCESI associates.

In the near future, with new computers and laptops, our center would be establishing a sixcarrel training space, that would function as a small research laboratory where important softwares would be installed for workshop purposes of research associates from the RIGs, Working Groups (WG), research assistants, and thesis advisees. Similar research workshops are to be scheduled at the RCCAH office. grants East Asian Development Network Individual Research Grants training workshop Environmental Research Methods: Application In Assessing Biodiversity Values Of Ecosystems TrainingWorkshop Philippine Network of Educators on Environment (PNEE) September 2325, 2015 | UPLB, College, Laguna conferences Envisioning the Teaching of GE Social Sciences and Humanities After K12: Towards a More Relevant and Revitalized GE Program October 19, 2015 | Bayleaf Intramuros, Manila.

Also, our center envisions gathering all publications (books, journal, etc.) for display and exhibit. Please make sure to give our center copies of these publications (inclusive of all dates), as our center envisions highlighting faculty/research associates’ publications. This practice has been part of major research organizations locally and abroad and I think it is worthy to invest on these initiatives for institutional memory purposes.

In the meantime, I encourage everyone to be in touch with your respective RIGs as we pursue our respective researches and as our center implement various activities in the next three months.

Truly, exciting research days ahead,
